Enlighten

I am dedicating this speedy post to my platform: preserving cultural diversity.

One of the many things I have learned throughout my experience as Miss Northeast Arkansas, is the power of enlightenment. Yes, one seemingly small element in life can trigger a multitude of ideas, projects, and actions. For me, that "eureka!" moment (in light of Archimedes) started with my international student conversation partner, Josephine. A young lady encompassing all corners of ambition, tradition, and determination; she has encouraged me to expand my love for multiculturalism and make a difference in my community. My steps might be minute at this moment, but I'm hoping to continue in the Miss Arkansas Organization to engage in a full sprint to encourage people to take advantage of what they were born with, to utilize their inherent diversity and different cultural backgrounds to positively impact their regions. So, thank you very much, Josephine!

I could go on, but I will leave you with this: "enlightenment is the key to everything. and it is the key to intimacy, because it is the goal of true authenticity." Marianne Wiliamson

Primero!

Here we are! My first post as a blogger.

First thing is first. I have had the best time being a part of the Miss Arkansas Organization! Being new to the organization, I had no idea about all the benefits that would endlessly stream from the cusps of this program! But, I have narrowed it to three:

1. Competing for Miss Northeast Arkansas, my very first pageant, was by far a whim decision! I had no idea that this would bring me so close to three other young women that I hold closely in my heart! They are also from the surrounding NEA area. I have the privilege of being around my two sister queens: Somer Allen (Miss River Delta) and Maggie Benton (Miss LOD) for my first "go-around" with the MAO, and I am eternally grateful for their unfaltering friendship! Everything from discovering how amazing the Local Lime is, to our deep talks, are things I will always value!
Also shout-out to my college roomie, sister, and right hand woman: Sarah Hamilton (Miss ASU) for just being plain awesome.
Also, there are two girls from ASU going to Miss Arkansas! The gorgeous Miss Cotton Belle, Sarah Loftin, and Miss Greater Camden (and my beautiful roommate at Miss Arkansas!) Molly Jones!
I say that to ultimately say this: I can't wait to cultivate more friendships with many other inspiring young women along the way!! I am looking forward to a wonderful week at Miss Arkansas!

2. I have learned a multitude about myself and the impact I want to have on my community! I get to delve into the essence of my platform: multiculturalism. Though an extremely ambiguous term, I want to assist in the preservation of cultural diversity in Northeast Arkansas; paving the way for a better implemented community and state. I absolutely love learning about different cultures, understanding their traditions, and even trying all the eccentric cuisines. :{)
Multiculturalism isn't just limited to different ethnic groups. It embodies all different demographics, institutions, environments...literally everything! I have found it to be so important to connect all these differences and to encourage those minority groups to become the best they can be.

3. Enjoying the blessing of life. To me, there is no greater joy in life than service. To utilize what we are inherently given, and to act as a catalyst for the betterment of society is a grand task. However, I have seen through the MAO that it can be done. It is heartwarming to see philanthropy be the main staple of the lives of so many young women. It is heartwarming to be a part of a group of young women that value service. It is inspiring to see young women dedicate so much time tending their plans to make the state a better place.
